1921 - 1928 churches and schools in Hugo

Postby Bartelsp » Sat Jun 28, 2008 3:06 pm

Hello All,

I am trying to find documentation of my uncle, Robert B. Bartels and aunt, Ethelyn J. Bartels, who were raised by their aunt and uncle (Andrew & Bertha Edwards) in Hugo. Robert and Ethelyn would have gone to school, and presumably to church (Luthern? - Norwegian background). If anyone living in Hugo or someone who has access to school records/church records could possibly look up Robert and Ethelyn, I would be forever grateful! Robert dob 1917 (sent to OK in 1921 or 22; Ethelyn dob prob. 1915 (sent to OK in 1921 or 22. I beleive all four went to New York either in 1927 or 1928....

Thank you so VERY VERY much!

Phyllis,
I'm not aware of any Lutheran churches in the area. Episcopalian here in Hugo but as far as I know there hasn't been a Lutheran. Around here the major 4 are Baptist, Church of Christ, Assembly of God and Methodist. Old county school records are kept at the courthouse. However if they lived in Hugo most likely they attended the Hugo schools. You can contact them and see if they'll do a records search. Their contact info can be found at http://www.hugoschools.com
