This file is an alphabetical listing of the divorce cases found in the U. S. Supreme Court microfilm for Muskogee County. The time frame is from statehood to the mid 1920's.
The divorce records often contain much genealogical information starting with a marriage date, marriage location, any children, occassionally with birthdates or ages, other family members, places where the couple lived during their marriage or were living at the time of divorce, occupations and other information.
In explanation of the format, the surnames are first, the given name, how the person is associated with the case (ie. Plaintiff, defendant etc) , case number, and microfilm number. Any person's named within that case is listed.
Since every case is unique, anyone interested in an copy of these court cases needs to contact the Muskogee County Genealogical Society by email or U.S. mail with the name, case number, and microfilm number. A representative will look up your request and contact you with a total number of pages and total cost. The cost is $5.00 for the lookup and first page, with .25 for every additional page thereafter. Once you receive the response, send the information requested using our Research Request Form along with your check made payable to the Muskogee County Genealogical Society.
Many, many thanks to Sherry Jackson for the countless hours (and months) she spent on this indexing project!!!
