Apr. 29, 1998-- I am searching for information about my paternal grand- father, Albert Wade Hopkins, born March 10, 1885, died June 1974. He was married to Susie Graham in Caddo, OK, August ? 1912. His father's name was Henry Washington Hopkins (may be buried at Bray or Marlow, OK.) His mother's name was Margaret Ellen Hoss (died in Shawnee, OK about 1944 and is buried in Tecumseh). Both may have been born in Missouri. His grandfather's name was James Hopkins, a Civil War veteran, who is buried at the cemetery in Caddo, OK. I do not have any birthdates or dates.
My grandfather, Albert Wade Hopkins, is listed in the 1910 Atoka County
census. He lived there most of his adult life, except for an approx. ten
year period in California during the 1940's and early 50's. In the early
1970's, he was placed in a nursing home in Durant, OK. (Bryan, Co.) My
father, Louis Washington Hopkins, was born in Atoka county on Granny
Creek (it is part of the Stuart Ranch now)on June 07, 1914. My grand-
mother, Susie Graham Hopkins, died in Atoka County East of Caney
(sometime between 1920 and 1922), and is buried in the Caney cemetery,
but we do not know where she is buried. We do not know her parents names
or where she was from. She did have a sister named Nora, who married
Thomas Hopkins (a brother to my grandfather, Albert Wade). We think she
had at least one other sister, and maybe three. Any help will be greatly
appreciated. Sincerely, Kim Hopkins
I was looking thru your cemetery list and did not see a cemetery named
Bethlem or Bethlam. My great uncle Charlie Atteberry was buried there.
I was wondering if the name might have been changed, or if it is no
longer in use, and maybe turned into pasture land.
Regards,
Ruth Atteberry Adams
Atoka County Coordinator
My birth certificate shows that my father , William Junia McFARLAND, was born in Bryan County. His birh date was June 17, 1890. His younger sister, Ida, was also born in Bryan County about two years later.
My father always said that he was born on a farm "on Caddo Creek, near the watermill". Ida also said that she was born on "Caddy" creek. This leads me to believe that the McFarland family lived in Bryan county for at least 3 or 4 years - 1889 - 1893 ?
I have not been able to find a Caddo creek in Bryan county but I do know that there is a town by the name of Caddo in the northern part of the county.
My grandfathers name was Samuel Marion McFARLAND, my grandmothers name was Varah ASKEW McFarland. They were married in Palo Pinto County, Texas in 1878. The two names that I would like to have added to your list are McFARLAND and ASKEW.
I am trying to get leads on the parents of William and Varah. I have had no luck in Palo Pinto County. If you have any suggestions on where I might search in Bryan county I would be grateful.

I am seeking info on my great grandfather. According to his son his name
was William Milton "Billy" BAKER. He was born in Chillicothe, Liningston
Co., Missouri. He died in Bochito, Bryan County, Oklahoma between 1940
and 1960. When my grandfather, Marvin Ray BAKER, was a young boy, Billy,
his father, left their family and disappeared. It wasn't until Billy was
an elderly man that he again made contact with his children. I would like
to find a copy of his obituary if one is available. I am hoping to find
more information on Billy's parents and any siblings he may have had. I
have heard that Billy and one brother had to leave Missouri under
suspicious circumstances. He lived with a friend in Bochito until his
death. My grandfather and all but one sister has passed away and she
doesn't know anything else about her father. Please help!! I can be
