The Submarine Boswell June 12, 1914
Miss Elnor McCann is attending the normal at Hugo; also, Professor J.M. Ingram.
Burl Woolbright was in Hugo Thursday.
"Carpenter" Rodgers, Roy Dwight and Jack Bolton went fishing Thursday evening and judging from the shower that fell we expect they got a wetting.
There is a special revival service in progress at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. E.L. Wilson, of Oklahoma City.
Preaching at 8 o'clock each evening for all Boswell.
Bring a friend.H.M. Roberts moved his family here from Clarksville, Texas, Tuesday.
Mr. Brittian, from across Muddy Boggy was in town Tuesday.
B.L. Burros and family sold their home last Friday to Earnest Irby, and they have moved to Norman, Oklahoma, where they will make their future home.
S.F. Willcut has purchased the grocery store of B.L. Burrus & Son.
Mr. Thomas and wife, of Mineola, Texas, purchased the Hollman restaurant and took possession yesterday.
Prof. J.R. Lewis is attending the Normal at Hugo.
Swan Burrus has opened a Racket Store at Swearingen's old stand.
Last Saturday the two year old child of Mr. Webb Burns was run over by a wagon and its shoulder crushed. The child is doing well.
The case of Small Pox is reported progressing favorable.
Gus Pickens is much better and will be out again in a few days.

There is a protracted series of meetings at the indian cumberland Presbyterian church at Pigeon Roost conducted by Rev. Jackson Carnes.
The Indian Presbyterian Sunday School conention was held at Pigeon Roost last week.
The choir and preaching services at the Methodist church Sunday evening were extra good.
Rev. Ailstock, the Baptist minister, is improving from his illness and left Tuesday for McAlister.
Mrs. R.M. Stem has returned from Joshua Texas where she has been visiting.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Titus visited the Dallas Fair this week.
Notice - School for winter term at LeFlore and Wilson school houses in the third district will begin the 1st Monday in November.
The law requires an attendance of three months and we expect to enforce this law.
J.H. Godfrey, J.C. Watson, G.W. Adair; School BoardWilliam Keener sold his property in the north part of town to R.L. Lowdermilk this week.
E. Irby attended the Dallas this week.
F. L. Woods purchased the farm of Roy Mirts southeast of town last Tuesday.
A.F. Ledger is visiting Frank Ballard and wife at present.
The Blank Trial is still in progress. Spragley remains unshaken on cross examination after a grilling of six hours.
Dr. J. Greenberg visited friends and relatives in Dallas, Texas this week.
P.M. Clarks baby is quite sick this week.

J.H. Morrison of Darwin was in town Tuesday.
J.C. Gillmore of Nelson was attending to business affairs here Wednesday.
Mr. Hunter of Joshua Texas, a prominent stockman and farmer of that place, was in town this week attending to business transactions here.
Attorney Whitley visited Hugo Tuesday.
Mr. Chandler of the Chandler Stewart Lumber Company was in town Wednesday.
Mr. Owen of the Lyon-Gray Lumber Company returned Wednesday from his former home with his wife and family to locate here.
J.C. Brown of Garvin has sold his business there and moved to Boswell to permanently locate here.
F.F. Hughes of Garvin has come back to Boswell to locate.
Mrs. W.W. Keeter seems to be a little improved at present.
E.F. Ryan, of Durant, president of the State National Bank of this place, was in town Thursday attending the directors meeting.
Jeff Self purchased from Mr. Stringfellow, of Pecan Gap Texas, 140 acres of land, south of town, Tuesday.
W.B. Collins little son, Woodrow Wilson, is reported very sick this week.
Dr. Chas. S. Lynch made a business trip to Ardmore Wednesday.
K.J. Swearengen returned Monday from an extended trip to Ada, Shawnee, Sparks and Madill and reports that he found no town doing a better business than Boswell from any stanpoint [sic].
Mrs. W.D. Bryant is dangerously sick at present.
Mrs. W.A. Beaty, of Avery Texas who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. C.H. Haal, returned Tuesday.
J.H. Clay of the O.K. Barber Shop paid a visit to Hugo Thursday.
Elbert Cornelius returned Saturday from Poughkeepsie N.Y. where he has been taking a business course.

Mr. Breshears went fishing over on Boggy this week but didn't catch any fish on account of being afraid of snakes. he caught two fine water moccasins and an eel.
Mr. J.F. Slaughter, an optician of Durant, was in town Wednesday.
Miss Mattie Lyday has accepted a position as ticket saleswoman at the Orpheum.
Mrs. J.E. McCleary returned Thursday from a two weeks visit with relatives and friends in Honey Grove Texas.
M.P. Graham was in town Thursday.
P.M. Clark was a business visitor to Crystal Wednesday.
J.E. McCleary visited his parents in Honey Grove, Texas this week.
A. Fine of Denison, Texas, is visiting his sister, Mrs. Frank Reed at present.
Grandma Roberts of Iron Stob is on the sick list this week.

Morris Gotler will occupy the old tin shop building after the first of the month.
E.J. Brown of Ledonia Texas has located here for a while.
W.W. Moran is doing jury service at Hugo this week.
Jim Holmes, Jess Wallace, J.E. McCleary mrs. Nick Ingram and Ivan Bell and wife were in Hugo this week attending court.

Attorney Whitley visited Hugo on legal business.
J.P. Basye of Yarnaby was in town Wednesday.
We are glad to see Streets being graded again. Our street commissioner, Mr. Loudermilk is to be congratulated upon the condition in which he has kept the streets.
J.W. Burris of Huckabay Texas was in town this week visiting old friends and attending to business affairs.
Mrs. Jno. J. Stephens was called to the bedside of relatives, at Martinsville, Arkansas, who are very sick.
T. Bender of the St. Louis Store left Sunday to purchase Spring Stock. Look out for their opening later.
C.D. Donalson of Augusta Kansas was in town Tuesday looking for a location.
Mr. Bos Richardson a merchant of Monkstown, Texas was in the city this week attending to business affairs.
J.A. Karr received word Saturday form [sic] Gillam Ark., that the residences of Jno. Whitley and Jno. Rober were destroyed by fire.
The residence of Rev. E.T. Thorne of Hugo, former pastor of the Baptist church here, was destroyed by fire last Sunday.
J.M. Echert opened his furniture store in the Burrus Bros. brick Saturday.
The Submarine Boswell April 3, 1914
James Herrington the Frisco Right of Way agent was in town Monday attending to business.
Dr. Jno. Greenberg has made a three days trip over Oklahoma and says that the Democrat administration is blooming there as great as it is here, if not wosre [sic].
Bro. White requests the Submarine to announce that the regular services at the Methodist church on next Sunday will be withdrawn in favor of the Christian revival at the Presbyterian church.
The Holiness folks are holding a series of service at the "Shed" this week and preaching on the street, evenings.
Lots of improving going on in this community, such as fencing, house porches, wagon sheds and etc.
Caril Noland & Co. was getting along fine burning brush until the rain drowned their fire out.
Rev. D.A. Russell, of Caddo, Okla., was visiting friends in around town this week.
Dr. Jno. J. Stephens and family left for Clarksville Arkansas today where they will make their future home.
The Callen Boys of Dircet [sic] Texas in town and are improving some of their property here.
We hear that Will Sherman has bought Will Burgens crop and team.
A Chirstian [sic] Monument - When the Baptist Church folks kindly opened the doors of their church to Mrs. Nettie Hudson in her relief work for orphans and unfortunate fallen women they built in this town a monument, the influence of which they can not begin to calculate. The help rendered a fatherless and motherless child and the redemption and salvation of a defenceless [sic] out cast woman is worth a thousand times more to the cause of God and Christianity than a thousand sermons to those above want and secure in material things.
In this action I take off my hat to the spirit that moved the good Baptists in this action.
It will gain more than they can conceive. It is "Bread cast on the waters to return many days hence."
