Hoodoo Doctor Bound Over
The Hugo Husonian August 24, 1911 - transcribed by Ron Henson

"Dr." Ed Cooper, alias Dr. Smith, the negro "cunjer" doctor who so badly fooled the negroes at the creosote plant and in Hugo, was brought into Judge Oakes' court yesterday evening and given an examining trial. He was bound over to the district court with bond fixed at $1,000. He couldn't cunjer such a sum so back to the jail went the famous doctor.
