Lambeth’s Is Oldest Department Store in City, Survey Shows
Hugo Daily News August 28-29, 1941Lambeth’s, Hugo’s oldest department store, has been located here for 34 years. Courtney Lambeth, its owner and founder, came to Hugo on October 1, 1907, when Hugo was a railroad lumber industry and real estate boom town.
Throughout the depressive years of the Hoover administration, Lambeth maintained the same high standard of merchandise and has been successful as a business man because of his stick-ativness.
Lambeth is a charter member of the Lions club and has served as president during 1929-30. He is prominently identified with the Methodist church, serving as one of the stewards for several years.
