PVT CO B 4 ARK CAV Confederate States Army. NOTE gggrandson reports this marker is in error. The 4th Ark Cav was UNION not CSA. He served from 12-20-1863 to 3-28-1864 as a private in the Union Army Company B of the 4th Arkansas Cavalry Volunteers also called the Mounted Infantry Volunteers under Colonel Fishback. He enlisted in Benton, Saline Co., Arkansas and was discharged at Dardanelle, Arkansas. He was in the same Company as his father, David Winston Alford. Source: Cliff Hetchler Dallas, Tx
