     Cemetery means any land or structure dedicated to or used, or intended to be used, for the interment of human remains. Abandoned indicates no known burials in the last 25 years. Many of these cemeteries are on private property and permission should always be secured before entering. Although every effort has been made to identify cemeteries located on private property, if in doubt always secure permission before visiting.
     In cases where the name of the cemetery is unknown or uncertain - either (1) the name used in the community, (2) the most common burial name, or (3) name of a close geographical feature or location is used to identify the cemetery in this list. All known alternate names are listed. Many of the cemeteries have been photographed and these are indicated with a camera icon. Indexed cemeteries lists only names, no dates.
     The location of some cemeteries listed in Funeral Home records is unclear. These cemeteries, which may not be located in Choctaw County, are indicated in the Cemetery List. If you know the location of any cemetery marked with a "?", please let us know.
