Transcriber's Note:
Armstrong Academy was established in 1844 and named in Honor of Captain William
Armstrong. The school was located about three and one-half miles from the
present town of Bokchito, in Bryan County. After the civil war, the school was
used by the Choctaw Nation as their Capitol, and named “Chaha Tamaha” The
capitol was moved to Tuskahoma in 1883, and the school was reopened as a School
for Orphan Choctaw Boys. In February of 1921 the school was destroyed by fire.
