Pioneer Is Gone From This Life
Johnson Tannatubby Died After Attaining A Ripe Old Age
Choctaw Who Accomplished Much When There Were Many Great Obstacles to Overcome

Johnson Tannatubby, 85 years of age, died at his home in the country north of Hugo, Thursday afternoon at 8 o'clock. The deceased was a full blood Choctaw Indian and was one among the oldest residents of the new state. He was born in either Georgia or Tennessee, but had spent almost all of his life in this section of Oklahoma, and was known to all of the pioneers in the Indian Territory section of Oklahoma. He was the father of a large family, and had been one of the sturdy sons of his race who helped to do things in a time when the doing was hard and there was very much to overcome. He was a quiet man, given to reminiscence of late years and few men enjoyed warmer friendships or were more highly regarded by those who knew him best.

Interment was made at Old Goodland cemetery Saturday, near where he resided for so many years.
