Mrs. Spring Acting Head of Orphanage
Mrs. S.B. Spring, widow of the late Simeon Bailey Spring, was named superintendent of the Goodland Indian Orphanage for the remainder of the present school year at a special meeting of the board of trustees of the orphanage Sunday afternoon. The choice was unanimous, as Mrs. Spring has been active in the management of the institution during her late husband’s illness and is familiar with all details of the work.
The special meeting was called by the Rev. E. Hotchkin, of Durant, president of the board. A regular meeting of the board will be held Tuesday, April 29, at which time the matter of naming a permanent sucessor to Mr. Spring will be taken up.
Goodland Trustees
No selection of a superintendent for the Goodland Indian orphanage was made by the board of trustees of the institution, which was in session at Goodland from Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock until late Wednesday.
Mrs. S.B. Spring, widow of the late superintendent of the institution, will continue in nominal charge during the balance of the school year. An advisory committee was named.
The trustees will be in no hurry to name a superintendent, a policy of careful selection having been determined, it is understood.
