Turner Hall
A Real Pioneer
Hugo Daily News August 28-29, 1941

Pictured above is Uncle Turner Hall, colored Civil War veteran, who will soon celebrate his 101st birthday. He will be given a prominent place in the Thursday evening parade and the Cavalcade 1941 shows.
During the Civil War, Uncle Turner was an orderly for Robert E. Lee.
He has received many honors because of his age and prominence, and even appeared on the NBC program, "We, the People" in New York City.
The white and colored citizens of Hugo both designate Uncle Turner as their most distinguished citizen.
