Funeral services for Wilma Matthews of Soper were held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2005 at Kent Baptist Church in Kent with Rev. Skip Perkins officiating. Interment was in Finley Cemetery in Finley.

Mrs. Matthews died Thursday, August 25, 2005, in Soper. She was 82.Wilma Juanita Matthews was born on January 15, 1923 in Finley to William C. and Mary Jane (Kelly) Shilling. She married Stanley Mathews on May 21, 1945 in Hugo. She had lived in this area most of her life after moving here from Finley. Wilma was a retired school teacher and a member of the Kent Baptist Church in Kent. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.C. & Mary Shilling, her husband, Stanley Matthews; three brothers, Bo, Vincent and Byron Shilling; two sisters, Zelma Smith and Ollie Kirk. She is survived by one daughter, Sherry Dunlap; three sisters, Rose Page, Lulu Summers and Dovie Underwood; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family received friends Sunday, August 28, 2005, at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo.
