Body Exhumed At Ft. Towson

Several months ago there was a man killed by accident at Ft. Towson who was a stranger in that community. After his death the coroner held an inquest over the remains and found that there was not a thing on the man that would throw any light on his identity and he was buried by the county with out identification. Several days ago B. D. Jordan assistant county attorney received a letter from a Mrs. Elkhorn, who lives in Texas asking him about the man and asked if he would accompany her to Ft. Towson for the purpose of exhuming the body that she might see whether or not it was that of her husband who disappeared about the time of this mans death. Mrs. Elkhorn arrived in the city Monday night and Mr. Jordan accompanied her to Ft. Towson Tuesday where the body was exhumed. Mr. Jordan said today that the remains had so badly decomposed that it was impossible for the lady to positively identify him although the teeth fitted those of her husband but she could not positively identify him as her husband. Mr. Elkhorn left home some time ago and during his travels according to the statement of his wife, he has always written regularly to his wife and four boys and constantly sent them money until a few months ago when all communications stopped. She will make further investigation about the Ft. Towson man.
