Lonnie Sconyers
July 4, 1924 - August 14, 2004

     Lonnie Sconyers, of Atwater, California took his final journey to be with the Lord on August 14, 2004. He passed away at Mercy Medical Center, Merced, California after a sudden illness.
     Lonnie was born in Fort Towson, Oklahoma on July 4, 1924. He lived in the Fort Towson/Hugo, Oklahoma area for approximately 20 years before moving to Richmond, California with his wife, Mary Jo Sconyers. Lonnie worked in the shipyard in Richmond, California for several years.
     In 1992, he retired from Davis Canning Company after 34 years of service as Plant Superintendent. During that time, Lonnie and his second wife, Rosie Sconyers, were co-owners of S&Z Trucking Company which was founded in 1964.
     He was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Livingston, California, where he served as a Sunday School teacher.
     In his early days, Lonnie enjoyed fishing and pheasant hunting along with deer hunting in Colorado. However, his favorite adventure was going to Old Mexico to hunt for buried treasure. Later in life, he developed an interest in aviation and went on to get his private pilot license. But his real interest and enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends.
     Mr. Sconyers is preceded in death by his mother and father, Emma and Lon Sconyers, a young son, Dennis Eugene, one brother and two sisters, his wives, Mary Jo Rabe and Berta (Rosie) Sconyers. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Coleman Sconyers of Atwater, two daughters; Yalonda Myers of Turlock, Anita Mason of Atwater, two step-children, Judy Shaw of Dallas, Texas and John Coleman of Turlock, brother, Charley Sconyers of Abilene, Texas, one sister, Alline Perrin of Abilene, Texas, five grandchildren, Scott A. Myers of Salida, Robin Clement of Bend, Oregon, Kelly Silva of Atwater, Ryan Lingenfelter of Madison, WI., and Lori Lingenfelter of Atwater, two step-grandchildren Andrea Coleman, Kayla Coleman of Turlock. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
     Visitation was held on Thursday, August 19, 2004 from 2-8:00 P.M. at Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home in Atwater. Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, August 20, 2004 at Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home in Atwater. Burial was at Winton Cemetery District, 7651 W. Almond in Winton. All arrangements under the direction of Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home of Atwater.
