E.H. Bailey Passes At Paris Today
E.H. Bailey, former manager of the Hugo branch of the Paris Grocer Company at Paris, passed away today at 11:15 a.m. at the Sanitarium of Paris, where he had been a patient since January 6, 1950. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home of Paris is in charge of all arrangements, which are pending.
Mr. Bailey had been oxygen tent since early Monday morning due to multiple diseases from which he was suffering.
He was born during February 1889 at Lanius, Texas, north of Honey Grove. He moved to Hugo in 1910 to work at the Paris Grocer Company. He succeeded R. C. Lane as local manager during 1922 when Mr. Lane became general manager of the Paris headquarters. During June 1939, Mr. Bailey was promoted as assistant general manager of the Paris headquarters and H.S. Griffith became general manager of the Hugo branch of the Paris Grocer Company.
Mr. Bailey moved to Paris at that time. Three years ago, Mr. Lane passed away and Mr. Bailey became first vice-president and general manager of the Paris headquarters.
During the time that Mr. Bailey lived in Hugo, he was an active member of the Rotary Club, the Park Board of Hugo, and the Masonic Lodge. He was a steward in the Hugo First Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sue Bailey of Paris; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Moore, nee Doris Bailey, LeGrange, Illinois; three grandchildren and two sisters.
A.G. Moore is in Paris now aiding in making the funeral arrangements.

Eugene H. Bailey Rites To Be In Paris and Hugo
Last rites for Eugene H. Bailey, 60, vice-president and general manager of the Paris Grocer Company, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 2, at Paris at the Fry Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Wesley Hite of the Paris First Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. H.C. Hoye, superintendent of the Paris Methodist district, officiating.
After the Paris ritual, Mr. Bailey will be brought to Hugo for interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A graveside service will be performed at approximately 4 p.m. by Rev. Hite and the Rev. Littleton Fowler of the Hugo First Methodist Church.
Mr. Bailey passed away on Tuesday at 11:22 a.m., at the Sanitarium of Paris.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bailey, 2152 Cleveland Street, Paris, and a daughter Mrs. Kenneth Moore, LaGrange, Illinois; three grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Adam Bailey, Dodd City, and Mrs. George McLear, San Francisco, Calif.
Mr. Bailey was born on February 27, 1889, at Lannius, Fannin County, being the son of the late Monroe and Nannie Burnett Bailey. He attended Lannius public schools and Paris Commercial College.
Former business connections include the Kimbell Milling Company at Whitewright and J.M. Crook Hardware Company of Paris. He was manager of the Paris Grocer Company office in Hugo from 1922 to 1939, having associated himself with the local company in 1910. He succeeded the late R.C. Lane as general manager of the Paris Grocer Company in Paris.
Pallbearers for the Hugo graveside service will be: Dr. H.D. Wolfe, Ira R. Armstrong, H.S. Hixon, John Groves, R.E. Woodson, Wheeler Leard, Josh Brindley and C.H. Davidson.
