Graveside services for Oda Viola Potts of McAlester were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Springs Chapel Cemetery in Hugo.
Mrs. Potts died May 25, 2004, in McAlester. She was 94.
Oda Viola Potts was born January 1, 1910 in Brady, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lee Pebsworth and Mary (McKinney) Pebsworth. She grew up and attended school in Ada, Oklahoma. She and her husband Harvey Potts owned and operated leather shops in New Mexico, Texas and California. She also lived in Hugo many years and operated a leather shop with her son Randy Potts before his death in 1994. Later she moved to Wills Point, Texas, and established a shop there. Oda was well known for her work with riding clubs and junior rodeos in Texas. She was nominated and inducted in the Cowgirl Western Heritage Hall of Fame in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Rebekah Lodge Order. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Potts, and son Rudy Potts.
Surviving relatives: Children, Gary Potts of Dallas, Texas, Judy & son-in-law Sam Osborne of McAlester; brother, Cecil Pebsworth of Mt. View, California; sister & brother-in-law, Wana & Ralph Paulsen of Cottonwood, Calif.; grandchildren, Barry & Pat Potts of Longview, Texas, Ricky & Darlene Potts of Carroll, Texas, Rudy & Bertha Potts of Wills Point, Texas, David & Charissa Horne of Mt. View, California, Lori & Allen Sensibaugh of McAlester, Oklahoma, Gary Potts of McAlester, Oklahoma; seven great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Neill died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, in Durant. She was 90.
Ola Hall Neill was born April 17, 1914, in Boswell, the daughter of Joe & Amanda (Scott) Hall. She was married to Joe Neill on October 27, 1931. She has been a lifetime resident of Boswell and a member of the Church of Christ of Boswell.
Surviving relatives: Husband, Joe Neill of the home; sister, Bertha Halsell of Boswell; brother, Sam Hall of Claremore; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Myrtle Lee Thomas of Ft. Towson were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2004, at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Chapel. Interment was in Ft. Towson Cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, in Oklahoma City. She was 99.
Myrtle Lee Thomas was born October 25, 1904 in Ft. Towson to John and Eva (Blankenship) Ball. She married Ervin Thomas and was a lifelong resident of Ft. Towson. She was a homemaker and will truly be missed by all. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ervin on February 2, 1979, three brothers, four sisters and one grandson.
She is survived by two sons, Bill Thomas and his wife, Charlene of Shawnee, and Noel Thomas and his wife Louise of Edmond; two daughters, Pebble Terrell and husband Dale of Oklahoma City, and Helen Gomez of Livermore, Calif.; three sisters, Ruby Webber of Ft. Towson, Marie Black and Birdie Mae Stewart, both of Hughes Springs, Texas; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Mr. Knight died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, in Hugo. He was 60.
Charles "Buck" Malcom Knight was born on February 21, 1944, in Sunkist, Okla., to Haskell and Almeda (Speer) Knight. He married Terry Bond in Durant, Okla., and was a rancher and lived in the Boswell area for many years. He had served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 until 1968. He will truly be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Terry of the home; one son, Charles "Charlie" Malcom Knight, Jr., of Boswell, Okla.; three daughters, Connie Knight and Shelly Knight both of Boswell, Okla., and Melissa Wingfield & husband, Robert, of Keller, Texas; four sisters, Jane Covey & husband Jack of Wister, Okla., Delores Scott of Blanchard, Okla., Sue Pillars & husband Garland of Beaver, Okla., and Lanell Malone & husband Jerry of Boswell, Okla.; six grandchildren, Ricky Joe Marshall, Patricia Nicole Marshall, Jennifer Diane Marshall and John Patrick Knight all of Boswell, Okla., Colton Glenn Jones and Bailee Dawn Jones of Keller, Texas.
There was a family visitation at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Chapel in Boswell, Okla., on Thursday evening, May 27, 2004, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services for Marie Newman, 90, of Lawton, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Paradise Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Overturf and the Rev. Donnie Crittendon officiating.
Mrs. Newman died Friday, May 28, 2004, in Lawton.
Burial was at Highland Cemetery under direction of Becker Funeral Home.
She was born July 16, 1913, in Adona, Ark., to William A. and Ida Ora McCall. She grew up in Arkansas and moved to Lawton in 1935. She married E.C. "Mack" McGuire on Sept. 10, 1930 in Adona, Ark. She later married John Newman, who died in 1966. She began working for Safeway in the summer of 1951 and retired in 1978. She was a member of Paradise Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marietta and Billy Penick, north of Lawton; a son and daughter-in-law, Rolin and Helen McGuire, Hugo; two brothers, Keith and Bill McCall, both of east of Lawton; three grandchildren and their spouses, Mark Penick, Bret and Mary Penick; and Lisa and Donald Jack Leslie; six great grandchildren, Jeri Marie, Lindy, Melissa, Matthew, Morgan and Mason; and a great-great-grandson, Cameron.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Alma Jones.

Daisy was born on September 20, 1909, in Frogville, to Robert and Lula (Hulen) Everidge. She had lived in Hugo all of her life. She was self-employed as a cab driver. Daisy married Wes Thompson and he preceded her in death. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Hugo. Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters, two brothers and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by two daughters, Jennie Thompson and Georgia Bowlin both of Hugo; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Foster died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, in Hugo. She was 69.
Violet M. Foster, better known as Nonnie, was born November 28, 1934, in Frogville, Okla., to Robert M. and Sarah (Baugh) Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Hugo. She was a retired sales clerk and waitress. She was a foster mother to many children. Nonnie was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Hugo, Okla. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
She is survived by three daughters, Jody Rawls of Hugo, Okla., Karla Cope of Paris, Texas, and Marla Raney & husband Melton Raney of Flower Mound, Texas; three brothers, Ray Smith and wife Annette of Ft. Towson, Okla., Glen Smith & wife Rhea of Keller, Texas, Billy Smith & wife Moyce of Hugo, Okla.; five grandchildren, Sheila Beard & husband Donny of Hugo, Okla., Jesse Cope & Shawna Cope, both of Paris, Texas, Alicia Raney of Plano, Texas, and Justin Raney of Flower Mound, Texas; four great grandchildren, Tristen & Kacyn Beard, Grayson & Peyton Cope and every foster child who ever came through her door and many nieces and nephews.

Sheredith Ann Garner of Hobbs, N.M., died Monday, May 31, 2004, in Hugo. She was 60. Memorial services will be announced at a later date in Hobbs, N.M.
Sheredith was born on December 21, 1943 in Hugo. She had lived in Hugo before moving to Hobbs, N.M. She was self-employed in retail sales. Sheredith married Jack Michael Garner in Lovington, N.M. on September 13, 1978. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Hobbs, N.M. Sheredith was preceded in death by her parents, Abe Frost and Melba L. (Billingsley) Frost.
She is survived by her husband, Jack of the home in Hobbs, N.M.; one son, Jack Michael Garner, Jr., of Cushing, Okla.; one daughter, Thelma Webb of Hobbs, N.M.; two brothers, Michael D. Podrazik of Midland, Texas, and Patrick K. Frost of Norman; one sister, Marva Wolfenbarger of Hobbs, N.M.; and three grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and one nephew.

Charles Matthew Mauro was born February 27, 1937 in Queens, N.Y., the son of Joseph Mauro and Josephine (Anzalone) Mauro and had lived in Hugo for the past five years. Charles was of the Catholic faith, and a Navy veteran. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Mauro of Hugo; one brother, Richard Mauro of Medford, N.Y.; one son, Charles J. Mauro of Middle Island, N.Y.; one daughter, Jo-Ann Karlen of Hugo; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. McCulley died June 6, 2004, in Idabel. She was 82. She was retired from Texas Instruments and was of the Baptist faith.
She was born April 14, 1922 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the daughter of Tsichi and Hana Hamasaki and had lived in the Valliant area since 1986. She married James McCulley in Honolulu in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1968. Her parents, and her daughter Patricia Dodds, also preceded her in death.
Surviving relatives: one son-in-law, Frank Dodds of Valliant; two sisters, Mildred Wetzel of Springfield, Missouri, Kiyoko Hamasaki of Honolulu, Hawaii; one brother, Howard Hamasaki of Honolulu, Hawaii; one grandson, Justin Dodds and two great granddaughters.

Mrs. Graves died June 5, 2004, in Idabel. She was 90. She was a homemaker and was of the Assembly of God faith.
Mrs. Graves was born June 13, 1913 in Sharon, Okla., the daughter of Charles and Mary Elizabeth (Langdon) Barr and had lived over 50 years in the Valliant area. She married Henry H. Graves on September 4, 1930 in Clayton, N.M. He preceded her in death in May of 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother: Harold Barr and one sister: Opal Hanson.
Survivors: One son: Jim Graves of Hartshorne, Okla.; four daughters: Lila Wyatt of Millerton, Ruth Stevens of Dickinson, Texas, Donna Whisenhunt of Valliant, and Joyce Nations of Valliant; three brothers: Ross Barr of Reedley, Calif., Wilbur Russell Barr of Blossom, Texas and Burton Barr of Valliant; two sisters: Ruth Wyatt of White City, Ore., and Faye Miller of Weed, Calif.; 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

Mr. Schulz died Sunday, June 6, 2004, in Soper. He was 22.
Nathan Curtis Schulz was born on May 29, 1982 in Hugo to Clayton L. and Denise R. (Cooley) Schulz. He was a truck driver for Choctaw County District No. 2. He had lived all of his life in the Soper community. Nathan was preceded in death by his mother, Denise, in 1999.
He is survived by his father, Clay Schulz of Soper; Lorie Lindsey of Soper; brother, Jason Schulz of Calera; little brothers, Travis, Spencer and Dalton Lindsey, all of Soper; grandparents, Delvin and Delores Schulz of Paris, Texas, and Jack and Shirley Cooley of Hugo; great grandparents, Juanita Boone of Hugo and Lena Gerk of Holyoke, Colo.
