Billy Jo Searles

Services will be Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 4 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Hugo for Billy Jo Searles.

Billy Jo died Saturday, August 13, 2005 in Hugo. She was 68.Billy Jo was born September 27, 1936 in Hugo, Okla., the daughter of Bill and Very (Mahon) Speer. She had lived in Hugo all her life and retired from Hugo High School. She married James (Jim) Searles on December 23, 1955. She was a local artist, sharing her talent with others. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren attending their ball games, and going to Wal-Mart. She attended the Clayton Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on October 4, 1991; grandson, James Mitchell and a granddaughter, Lacey Searles.

Surviving relatives include two daughters: Angela Mitchell and Deryll Searles of Hugo; son, James Daniel “Dan” of Hugo, Okla., sons and daughters-in-law: Terry and Sherrie of Soper, Okla., and Kenneth and Jacquetta, of Hugo; brother and sister-in-law: Jim and Bernice Speer of Buffalo Junction, Va., sister and brother-in-law: Deanna and Robert Morehead, of Hugo, 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. in the Mt. Olive Funeral Home chapel.

Officiating the service will be Rev. Doug McClure and Rev. Gene Witt. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo under the direction of Mt. Olive Funeral Home of Hugo.
