Green Walker Services To Be In Hugo Monday
Services will be held at the Church of God in Hugo at 2:30 p.m. Monday for Green Walker, retired farmer-stockman who died early Friday at his home in the Kent Community northwest of here.
Rev. Jimmy Lick will officiate at the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Coffey Funeral Home.
Walker, a colorful Choctaw county pioneer – having lived all of his 85 years near his birth place at Soper – is next to the place at Soper – is next to the last living member of the 1895 Golden Hurricane football team of Henry Kendall College at Tulsa.
His death leaves Norman Leard of Hugo the only remaining member of the famous eleven. The college later became Tulsa University.
He is survived by Mrs. Walker and one son, Robert Walker of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Mrs. Oleta Bell of Hugo, Mrs. Alma Harrison of Tulsa, Mrs. Hotona Roebuck of West Minister, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Drumright of Bellflower, Calif. And Mrs. Fannie Sauls of San Angelo, Texas, and several grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Horace Branton, Walter Rouden, Sam Harbuck, Albert Males, Lawton Robbins and John Hays.
Honorary pallbearers are W. E. Schooler, Charley Vandergriff, C. Schooler, Charley Vandergriff, Cas Vandergriff, T. A. Marbut, Jack Darnell and Ralph Marshall (of Soper).
