BORN: JUNE 16, 1929 DIED: APRIL 23, 2002
Betty Jo Allen, 72, of Idabel, OK, reached up and took God's hand as he led her home on April 23, 2002 at the Texhoma Medical Center in Denison.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2002 at Trinity Baptist Church in Idabel, OK, with the Rev. Doug McClure and the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Jim Norwood Funeral Home.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family is gathering at the home of Robbie and Larry Mullens, east of Idabel, OK, on North Indian Road.
She was born on June 16, 1929 to Robert Wise Cromwell and Grace Lee Cromwell in Ft. Towson, OK, the youngest of three children.
She now joins those she loved who preceded her in death, her spouse of 27 years, Raymond “R.D.” Allen; her parents; a brother, Robert “Sugarman” Cromwell, Jr., and most of all her beloved son, Charles “Chip” Allen.
She was a long time resident of Idabel after moving here from the Hugo, OK. area. She was a devoted mother, working hard many years to raise her children. She loved life, enjoyed her music and most of all loved making memories with her family, who will always cherish and remember the special person she was. She was of the Baptist faith.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Linda and Harold “Burr” Grayson of Powderly, Dewayne and Debbie Allen of Holly Creek, OK., Robbie and Larry Mullens of Idabel, OK., and Steven Allen of Carrollton; two step-children, Glen D. and Nancy Allen of Idabel, OK., and Sherry and Rodney Cockrell of Eagletown, OK.; her grandchildren, Brittany Brown, Barry Allen, Caleb Allen, Kendra Beshirs, Melissa Grayson, Lea Mullens, Amanda Anderson, Tommy Allen, Nanette Russell and Chad Allen; five precious great-grandchildren; her sister, Dolores Glaze, of Durant, OK.; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Jack Purington.
