BRANCH, BILLIE (CARTER)

BORN: APRIL 25, 1919 DIED: APRIL 5, 2005

Billie Branch of Waco, formerly of Moody, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at the age of 85. Memorial gravesides services and interment were 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Moody Cemetery, under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGreogor, with Rev. Laraine Waughtel officiating.

Mrs. Branch was born April 25, 1919, in Fort Towson, Oklahoma, the daughter of William Larkin and Myrtle Ann Ellis Carter.

She was a 1936 graduate of Moody High School and earned her bachelors of business administration degree from North Texas University in 1939. In 1963, she earned her master degree in English from Baylor University.

On September 3, 1943, she married William Martin Branch in Moody. He preceded her in death February 16, 1975.

In her earlier years, she was a former member of Moody Methodist Church and a member of Austin Avenue Methodist Church in Waco.

She taught at Big Lake and Clifton for several years and was employed by the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston for several years. She moved to Waco in 1959 from Hillsboro and taught English at Richfield High School. After devoting twenty-five years to the teaching profession, she retired in 1985.

A son, Steve Branch preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, David Branch and his wife Sylvia and Dan Branch both of Waco; four grandchildren, Kelly Branch, Steve Branch, Will Branch and Kate Branch.
