BRINT, SYLVIA MARJORIE (LANDRETH / FORD)
Transcribed by Bessie Meredith
BORN: MARCH 17, 1922 DIED: MARCH 22, 2003
Sylvia Marjorie Brint, 81, a longtime resident of White Oak, died peacefully at her home from leukemia on Saturday, March 22, 2003.
She was born March 17, 1922, in Choctaw County, Okla., to Walker Benjamin and Jewel Watts Landreth. After graduating from Grant High School, she moved to Kilgore and worked as a dental assistant before marrying Ruel W. Brint on May 3, 1942. In 1950, they moved to White Oak, where he worked for Sun Oil Co., and she worked many years at Fedways and Dillard's as a department manager. They loved their adopted community and made many lifelong friends in East Texas. They were members of the First Christian Church in Longview.
Marjorie was preceded in death by Ruel in 1979, and she married John W. Ford of Kilgore on Christmas Eve 1990. John also preceded her in death in 1997.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Grety Brint and Randy and Dee Brint, all of White Oak; one granddaughter and her husband, Kimberly and Justin Williams of White Oak; two grandsons, Jeff Brint of Longview and Jason Brint of Austin; a very special great-grandson, Cole Williams of White Oak; one sister, Shirley Rorie of Hugo, Okla.; one brother-in-law and his wife, Jake and Billie Flenniken of Liberty City; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She dearly loved her family, including her “extended family” of friends. Marjorie loved people, never met a stranger and had a unique way of making everyone feel special. She will be greatly missed by many.
Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at Welch Funeral and Memorial Center, 4619 Judson Road.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 24, at the First Christian Church, 720 N. Sixth Street, in Longview with Dr. James Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund.
