CHANCELLOR, LOUIS F.

Funeral services for Louis Chancellor of Fort Towson will be held at 2:00 Thursday, January 22, 2004, at Rock Assembly of God Church in Fort Towson, with Reverend Hershel Reed officiating, assisted by Reverend Robert Haynes. Committal services with military rites will be held in Fort Towson Cemetery, Fort Towson, Oklahoma.
Mr. Chancellor died January 17, 2004, at his home. He was 60.
He was a truck driver employed by Rustin Concrete of Hugo. He was a retired Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was awarded numerous medals, badges and other decorations including the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of Little Dixie Chapter #53 DAV of Hugo and VFW Post #8316 of Hugo. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
He was born December 14, 1943 in Ray, Arizona, the son of William Dalton Franklin Chancellor and Laura “Helen” Beatrice (Mitchell) Chancellor and had lived in the Choctaw County area since 1983. He married Elisabeth A. Burgess on October 10, 1975, at Wichita Falls, Texas, and then again on February 8, 1983, at Guymon, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his father, his daughter, Victoria Chancellor and his sister, Alice Gail Hickman.
Surviving relatives: his wife, Elisabeth Chancellor; his mother, Helen Carroll and his step father, Robert Carroll of Fort Towson; one son, Louis Franklin Chancellor, Jr. of Woodward, Okla.; two step-sons, Leslie Icke of Moreland, Okla. And Tony Icke of Woodward, Okla., five daughters, Kimberly Kay Chancellor of Sawyer, Okla., Sheila Brewer of Amarillo, Texas, LuAnn Miranda of Woodward, Okla., Ruby French of Fort Towson and Frances Wallace of Fort Towson; his sister, Glenda Carroll of Fort Towson and his twin sister, Lois Shirley of Sawyer; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at the funeral home.
