RAY, MAXINE INEZ (MOSES)

DIED: OCTOBER 22, 2002

A graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenmount Cemetery for Maxine Inez Moses Ray, who died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, in Hugo, Okla.

She was 81.

Mrs. Ray was born July 30, 1919, in Lamont, Okla. She went to Banner School and graduated from Lamont High School in 1938. She lived at the family home until 1942 when she moved to Wichita, Kan., to work at Boeing Aircraft Company. She married Burton Ray in June 1944.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray settled in Durango in 1956, and Mr. Ray retired from the Bureau of Reclamation in the mid-1960s. Mr. Ray preceded her in death in October 1987. Mrs. Ray then moved to Lamont, Okla., to be near her daughter. In August 1999, she moved to a retirement community in Hugo, Okla., where she died in her sleep Oct. 22.

Mrs. Ray was a member of the First Christian Church in Durango and an active member of the Republican Women’s Group. Even after several strokes, she enjoyed activities at the senior center in Durango.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Diane Lynn Ray.

Survivors include her daughter, Leta Terrell, and a grandson, Eric Terrell of Frisco, Texas; a granddaughter, Misha Terrell Lawrenson of Atoka, Okla.; and a great-granddaughter.
