UNDERWOOD, BILLY ROY

DIED: JULY 12, 2002

Billy Roy Underwood, 69, of Ravenna passed away Friday, July 12, 2002, in the Sam Rayburn Veterans Nursing Home in Bonham.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 13, at the Cooper-Sorrells Chapel in Bonham with Bro. David Brackett, Bro. Eddie Frazier and Bro. Jeff Young officiating. Interment will follow in the Dodd City Cemetery under the direction of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home.

He was born on Oct. 1, 1932, the son of the late Leslie C. and Laura Davis Underwood.

He married June Tadlock on Sept. 29, 1978, in Durant, Okla. He was a faithful member of Corinth Baptist Church. He worked for Fannin County Electric Co. for 39 years, he was a scout master in Ector for 12 years and served during the Korean Conflict as a staff sergeant from 1953 to 1955.

He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, June Underwood of the home; son, Marshall Underwood of Garland; daughters, Deborah Rushing and husband B.W. of Sulphur Springs; Julie McNeece and husband Roger of Paris, Connie Gencman and husband Kevin of Tyler and Debbie Hart of Bonham; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Harris of Grand Prairie, Ema Thomas of Garland, Pat Hankins of Mansfield and Brenda Mize of Wills Point; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Paul Steedman, Janson Ownby, Dusty McNeece, Vince O’Briant, Matthew McNeece, Adrian Dominquez, Rick Foster and Darrell Smith. Honorary pallbearers, Jim Snowden, Lloyd Reeves, Larry Gardner, Larry Nichols, Thomas McGuire, Jim Gantt, Tony Groseclose, Bobby Rattan and J.W. Cunningham.

If desired memorials can be sent to the Hospice of Sherman or Corinth Circle of Friends.
