J.P. Jamerson
J.P. Jamerson Drowns Dec. 24th
The Boswell News – December 29, 1932
Transcribed by Ron Henson for OKCHOCTA
Many people were saddened to learn of the tragic drowning of J.P. Jamerson, which occurred about 9 P.M. Saturday night. Jamerson was accompanied by a friend of his, Tobe Purser, and the two boys had started for Jamerson’s home when they reached Rock Crossing on Mayhew. Purser took off his clothes intending to swim the creek which was swollen by flood waters. Jamerson, who was horseback was to carry Purser’s clothes, put his horse into the water after Purser was out on the other bank. It is supposed that Jamerson became entangled in some limbs and was dragged from his horse.
J.P. was the son of Mrs. J.P. Jamerson, who resides three miles north of Boswell. He moved to this section in 1917 with his parents. He was born in Louisburg, Ky., Sept. 11, 1912.Funeral services were conducted here Sunday Dec. 25, by the Rev. J.M. James and interment made in the Boswell cemetery at 3:00 P.M.
