Sessum child

Nine Year Old Boy Drowns in Red River Tuesday
The Boswell News – September 1, 1932
Transcribed by Ron Henson for OKCHOCTA

A nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Sessum, residing southwest of Boswell was drowned in Red River Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock.

The lad was accompanied by his brothers and some more small boys and the drowned boy’s father. Mr. Sessum was up the river from where the boys were playing on the river bank when he saw the boys wade into the river. He called to them and reached them in time to save some of the other lads from the current.

The boy was thought to have stepped into an under current and never came up after going under the first time.

A rescue party was organized and the body recovered after about three hours.

    Funeral services were held Wednesday.
