Jack Walton Gilbreath

Jack Walton Gilbreath passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2004. He was eighty-one at the time of his death. He was a resident of the Baptist Village Retirement Center in Hugo, but he was a lifelong resident of the Boswell area.
He was born December 11, 1922 to James Lee and Martha Anderson Gilbreath, the youngest of thirteen children. He attended Boswell schools and married Mary Helen Parker in 1944. She preceded him in death in 2001. Jack was very active in his community and church. He served Boswell Methodist Church as Sunday School superintendent and youth teacher for many years. He was president of the Boswell School Board, and was a member of the community "Choir of Angels" that sang at most funerals in Boswell for thirty years. He was always there to help in any civic endeavor and will be greatly missed by a host of friends.
He is survived by one daughter, Pam and Ronnie James of Boswell; two sons, Jim and Pam Gilbreath of Fayetteville, Ark., and Randy and Tabby Gilbreath of Hugo; six grandchildren, Jack James of Durant, Dan and Lori James of Atoka, Jamie Gilbreath of Oklahoma City, Asacia and Kevin Kelly of Paris, Texas, Eric and Randi Lea of Hugo; also two great-grandchildren, Jessen James of Atoka and Christian Newman of Paris, Texas. He also leaves one sister, Velma Elmore of Boswell and one brother, Tom of Scottsdale, Ariz.
A celebration of his life will be held Friday, December 10, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. in the Boswell Methodist Church under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 9, 2004 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Boswell. The family requests memorials be made to the Boswell Methodist Church or the Restland Cemetery Association.
Interment will follow at the Restland Cemetery in Boswell.
