Lois Glover
Fort Towson Enterprise – February 16, 1917 – transcribed by Ron Henson
Passes Away at Swink
“Death rides on every passing breeze and lurks in every flower.” Thus it crept into our midst and took from us the sweet spirit of Lois Glover, leaving a vacancy that is deeply felt by her many friends.
Again has the son gone down at noon: Lois was just entering womanhood, just sixteen years she remained on earth. One of earth’s fairest flowers was plucked in its earliest bloom: Though like the lily which gladdens and purifies the flower, by its having blossomed so lived this life.
Lois possed [sic] some rare qualities which so endeared to all. She was kind, cheerful and affectionate. By word or smile, which mirrored her pure soul, she won the esteem of all who knew her.
How bitter to her parents must be the eternal separation and anguish of a bleeding heart. Lois bore her illness with Christian grace, and although every temperal want was granted to sustain her priceless life, the Father who giveth and taketh away called her in that bright sphere. Death was no terror, “for in the final hour she reflected the love of God in her countenance.” His will be done; not ours. Lois is gone, we will ever miss her, but her purity and gentleness of spirit will be reflected far into the future.
Parents, sisters, brothers and grandmother, we know our words of condolence cannot heal your broken hearts, still we offer you our heartfelt sympathy in the loss of this bright jewel and trust you may find sustaining grace and at last enter into the same “haven of sweet rest.”
