Grover Fluellen

     Funeral services for Grover Fluellen of Hugo were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2004, at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, with Reverend Bill Stone officiating, assisted by Reverend Gene Witt. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
     Mr. Fluellen died Monday, October 25, 2004, in Hugo. He was 84.
     Grover Fluellen was born on December 19, 1919 in Hugo, Okla., to Benjamin and Emma (Landers) Fluellen. He married Jean Steel on June 30, 1981 in DeQueen, Arkansas. Grover had lived in this area all of his life and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a longtime employee of the Lone Star Gas Company, of which he retired. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Hugo Fire Department. He will be missed by all the lives he touched.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Frances (Nash) Fluellen, and an infant sister.
     He is survived by his wife, Jean of the home; two sons, Ralph Fluellen & wife Joyce of Hugo, Okla., and Norris Fluellen & wife Cathy of Bastrop, Texas; one step-son, Michael Renick & wife Patricia of Boswell, Okla.; one daughter, Marsha (Fluellen) Popchoke & husband, Ronald of Bemus Point, New York; one sister-in-law, Pauline Self of Boswell, Okla.; six grandchildren, Keith Fluellen, Kelli Fluellen, Michelle Popchoke, Nick Fluellen, Leslie Popchoke and Ian Maness; one step-granddaughter; five great-grandchildren.
     The family received friends on Wednesday evening, October 27, 2004, at the Prater-Lampton-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, Okla.
