Mr. Jackson died Sunday, October 31, 2004, at Lane Frost Rehabilitation Hospital in Hugo. He was 62.
Mixon Andrew Jackson was born January 1, 1942 in Spiro, Okla., the son of a full blood Choctaw Indian, Reynold Ray and Vencil Lorene (Robison) Jackson. He moved to Princeton, Texas as a small child with two older siblings where he started school later in Jr. High. He then moved to Carrollton, Texas where he went to school until he entered the Army at 17 years old. Andrew was in the 82nd Airborne Division and the youngest man in the Far East in his MOS. He was very proud of his Army service and being a Paratrooper. He married Edith Richardson Green on November 22, 1965 in Lubbock, Texas. He became a welder as his life vocation until his retirement. After retirement he worked their small ranch cleaning and working in the yard, fields, and fences. He was very artistic in making knives, walking canes, bows, dream catchers and many other Indian arts. Andrew was one-half Choctaw Indian and was very proud of his heritage and talents and desired to pass these things on to his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends who knew him as a great comedian; and always by his side, his faithful dog "Jake."
