Veteran Teacher Answers Call
Mrs. Robert Allison died of tuberculosis early Friday morning
Had taught in Indian Schools continuously for the last quarter of a century
Mrs. Robert Allison died at the family home two miles west of Hugo Friday morning after an illness of forty days, the deceased being a victim of tuberculosis of the bowels.
Deceased had been a teacher in the Indian mission schools of this section of the Indian country for the past quarter of a century, coming here with her husband twenty five years ago from St. Charles, Missouri, and has been a constant teacher since that time. Since statehood Mrs. Allison has been teaching at Old Goodland and was employed to teach there again for the approaching term. Shortly before she was taken ill, Mrs. Allison had opened a summer term of school at Old Goodland, but sickness compelled her to dismiss the term.
The immediate family left to mourn the loss of the deceased, is the husband and an adopted child.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at Old Goodland followed by interment there at the cemetery.
Mrs. Allison was among the best known teachers of Southeastern Oklahoma and her demise will be regretted by a circle of acquaintances not confined to this section of the state.
