Funeral services for Quintin Jamaal Scroggins of Hugo were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Roylia Akins officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Mr. Scroggins died December 13, 2003, in Durant, Okla. He was 20.
He was a member of Hugo Chapel Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives: One son, Quintin Jamaal Scroggins, Jr., of Hugo; daughter, Angelina R. Scroggins of Hugo; mother and father, Ronnie & Lela Scroggins of Hugo; brother, Ronnie E. Thelma Hearn

Funeral services for Thelma Hearn of Idabel were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Westside with Rev. Allen Gulley officiating. Interment was in Richland Cemetery.
Mrs. Hearn died December 13, 2003, at her home. She was 55.
She was a member of First Baptist Church Westside.

Betty Ortiz

Funeral services Betty Ortiz of Hugo were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2003, at Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mutt Wallace officiating. Interment was at Spencerville Cemetery in Spencerville, Okla.
Betty died December 17, 2003, in Hugo. She was 71.
Betty was born May 2, 1932, the daughter of Lona Joe Green and Laurel "MildredÓ (Brese) and had lived in Hugo for the past 22 years. She was a hairdresser, a nanny and a caregiver for the elderly. She was a member of the Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Anna Faye Barnhart.
Surviving relatives: one son, Jimmy Ray Green of Bedford, Texas; one daughter, Kathy Williams of Santa Cruz, Calif.; one brother, Roy Gene Green of DeSoto, Texas; two sisters, Virginia Irene McCarthy of Beaumont, Texas, and Johnnie Marie Norton of Grand Prairie, Texas; two grandchildren.

George Quentin Grafford

George Quentin Grafford, age 77, died October 18, 2003, at Edmond Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Grafford was born to Russell and Ackie Grafford July 22, 1926, at Hugo, Oklahoma. He graduated from Hugo High School and served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. Mr. Grafford married Jessie Lee Harris of Shidler, Oklahoma, on September 27, 1950. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Accounting and worked for various oil and gas companies, retiring from Oklahoma Refining Company in 1982. Mr. Grafford is survived by his wife of the home; one daughter, Jeanne Anne Grafford of Corpus Christi, Texas; one son, George Geoffrey Grafford and wife Liz and granddaughter, Emma, of Edmond; two sisters, Virginia Doenges of Oklahoma City and Betty Short of Tyler, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Dorothy Hubbard and Minnie Shelton and brother William Grafford. Memorial services were held at Baggerley Memorial Chapel, 13313 North Kelley Avenue on November 1, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Joel Baker of First Presbyterian Church of Edmond officiated.

Lela Barnes

Funeral services for Lela Barnes of Fort Towson were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2003, at Rock Assembly of God Church in Fort Towson with Rev. Jerry Cooper officiating, assisted by Rev. Robert Haynes. Interment was in Fort Towson Cemetery.
Mrs. Barnes died December 18, 2003, at Choctaw Memorial Hospital in Hugo. She was 83.
Mrs. Barnes was born April 18, 1920, in Mena, Ark., the daughter of Alex and Ida (Reynolds) Bates and had lived most of her life in Fort Towson. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Barnes on May 31, 1991. Mrs. Barnes wrote the Fort Towson News column for the Hugo Daily News for several years. She was also well known for Minnie Pearl imitations that she perfomed at different places in this area. She was a member of Rock Assembly of God Church in Fort Towson.
Surviving relatives: four daughters: Shirley Carroll, LeQuetta Perry, and Vickie Priddy, all of Fort Towson, and Sharon Ridenour of Hugo; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Ruby Dafney Holman

Funeral services for Ruby Dafney Holman of Boswell were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ravenna, Texas.
Mrs. Holman died December 19, 2003, at her residence. She was 69.
She is survived by 10 children, 44 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Dorothy Krietel and Opal McCandes, and several nieces and nephews.

Anita Rosalie "Rosie" Armstrong

Funeral services for Anita Rosalie "Rosie" Armstrong of Soper were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at First Baptist Church in Soper. Interment was at Restland Cemetery in Boswell.
Mrs. Armstrong died Sunday, December 21, 2003, in Hugo. She was 73.
Rosie was born March 28, 1930, in Dewey, Okla., to Benjamin Franklin and Eliza (Eden) Carroll. She married James Ray Armstrong in DeQueen, Ark., on June 3, 1948. She moved to Soper from Lewisville, Texas, in 1968. She was formerly an agent for Oklahoma Farmers Union Insurance. She was a member of the Nelson Home Extension Club and the Soper Study Club. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters. 
Rosie is survived by one son, James Ray Armstrong, Jr., and his wife betty of Norman; two daughters, Sandra K. (Reid) Diaz and her husband Ceilo of Oklahoma City, and Karen Armstrong Titsworth of Soper; one sister, Jeannie Raddler of LaQuinta, Calif.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
