Carol Campbell Hickey

     Carol Campbell Hickey of Boulder, Colo., died December 6, 2003, in Boulder. She was 57.
     Mrs. Hickey was born September 9, 1946, in Hugo, Okla., to James W. Campbell and Marguerite Adamson. She married William A. Hickey on November 24, 1967, in Hugo. She was a computer programmer. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Cathy Sue Shaver.
     Surviving relatives: Husband William Hickey of Boulder, Colo.; daughters: Jo Lynn Hickey of Missoula, Mont., and Jamie Sue Hickey of Boulder, Colo.; sister, Deborah Battiest of Clayton, Okla.
     No services are to be held for Mrs. Hickey.
     Under the direction of Crist Mortuary, Boulder, Colo.


Opal Clower Cox

     Services for Opal Clower Cox were Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Hugo.
     She passed away Saturday, November 29, 2003 in Hugo at the age of 100 years.
     Opal was born Dec. 6, 1902 in Pecan Gap, Texas, the daughter of William and Birdie (Bridges) Clower. She worked as a medical clerk for many years. Opal was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hugo.
     Her parents preceded her in death.
     She is survived by Barbara Joan Garrett of Tyler, Texas; Deby Garrett of Grand Prairie, Texas; Marty Garrett, Warren Garrett, Lani Garrett and Haley Rose Garrett, all of Honolulu, Hawaii.
     Rev. Kay Buchanan officiated the service which is being directed by Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo.


Paul H. Smith

     Graveside services for Paul H. Smith were Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 in the Fort Towson Cemetery. Mr. Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 in Oklahoma City. He was 81.
     Paul was born May 12, 1922 in Fort Towson to Chester and Lennie (Metts) Smith. He had lived in Ardmore for the past 30 years. Paul served his country in the U.S. Army. His parents preceded him in death. A brother, Robert Smith, of England survives him.
     Burial was in the Fort Towson Cemetery under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo.


Annie Quillen

     Services for Annie Quillen were 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003 in the South Central District Building.
     Annie died Dec. 8, 2003 in Oklahoma City at the age of 102 years.
     Annie was a member of the Oak Grove CME Methodist Church.
     She is survived by one son, Joseph Wesley Quillen; one sister, Olivia Lewis, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
     Rev. Wayne Wyatt will officiate the service and burial will follow in the Speer Cemetery under the direction of Rogan Funeral Home of Hugo.


Joan Hatcher

     Graveside services for Joan Hatcher of County Line Road near Valliant were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2003, at Valliant Cemetery with Tom Knapp officiating.
     Mrs. Hatcher died Friday, December 12, 2003, at her residence in Valliant. She was 58.
     Joan Hatcher was born October 22, 1945, in Locust Grove, Okla., the daughter of Lowell Herman and Dicie Louise Tims Woodruff. She married Bobbie Hatcher in Gainesville, Texas, about 24 years ago. She moved from Gainesville, Texas, and has lived in this area for 20 years. She was a homemaker and worked at Tyson's for 15 years. She was a member of the Valliant Jehovah Witness Church.
     Surviving relatives: Husband, Bobbie Hatcher of the home; one daughter, Michele Lee Pearson of Idabel; one son, Lowell Carson of Valliant; 12 step-children; two sisters, Fern Emerson and Patsy Sue Moorehead, both of Sapulpa; one half-sister, Lorene Woodruff of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Thelma Hearn

     Funeral services for Thelma Hearn, 55, of Idabel, are pending with Rogan Funeral Home. Mrs. Hearn died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at her home.


Rita Sue Toby Nation

     Funeral services for Rita Sue Toby Nation of Sawyer were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2003, at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home chapel. Interment was in Everidge Family Cemetery.
     Mrs. Nation died Saturday, December 13. 2003, in Paris, Texas. She was 62.
     Rita was born September 18, 1941, in Hugo, the daughter of Ernest B. and Ruby Lee (Oakes) Nation. She married Harvey D. Nation in Hugo on Dec. 10, 1957. Rita was a homemaker and had lived in Hugo all of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on June 27, 1993, and a sister, Shirley Ann Mantooth.
     Rita is survived by four sons, Harvey Ernest Nation and Aubrey Dean Nation, both of Sawyer, Jerry Glenn Nation of Fort Towson and Richard Dale Nation of Frogville; four daughters, Deborah Ann Newberry, Wanda Jean Finley and Kassandra Sandy Pendergraff, all of Sawyer, and Juanita Francies of Hugo; one sister, Laura May Johnson of Frogville; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Quintin Scroggins

     Funeral services for Quintin Scroggins, 20, of Hugo, are pending with Rogan Funeral Home. He died Saturday, December 13, 2003, in Durant.


Doris Jean Rutledge Cook

     Funeral services for Doris Jean Rutledge Cook of Sawyer were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home chapel.
     Mrs. Cook died Monday, December 15, 2003, in Paris, Texas. She was 60.
     Doris was born December 31, 1942 in Durant, to Roy C. and Matilda P. (McDonald) Rutledge. She married John T. Cook in DeQueen, Ark., on November 19, 2001. She had lived in this community for 14 years after moving here from Durant. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and worked at the Women' s Crisis Center. Doris received her college degrees from Murray State College and Southeastern Oklahoma State University and was an artist and loved gardening. She was a homemaker and will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Carter Rutledge and one brother, Roy Lee Rutledge.
     Doris is survived by her husband, John T. Cook of the home; one son, Brian Boaen of Whitesboro, Texas; one daughter, Mochelle James of Tawakoni, Texas; one brother, Donald R. Rutledge of Weatherford, Texas; four sisters, Barbara Hendrix of Durant, Chiquita McGee of Bedford, Texas, Reva Hamilton of Asher, Okla., and Treva Woods of Norman, Okla.; four grandchildren and 22 nieces and nephews.
     In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Melba Dean Tucker Boykin

     Boykin, Melba Dean Tucker was born October 3, 1931 in Boswell, Oklahoma to Stella and A.G. Tucker. She suffered for nine years with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Lou GehrigÕs Disease, and died at home on December 14, 2003. She married Al Boykin in Paris, Texas on March 4, 1949. She has two daughters Brena Cullum and Carol Sorrels. She also has four grandchildren; Keela McNutt, Jason Bloodworth, Ryan Sorrels and Chase Sorrels. She has two great grandchildren Jonathan and Baylie McNutt. Melba is survived by her husband, Al; 3 sisters: Jean Stephenson, Geraldine Walker, and Linda Grant; 2 brothers: A.D. Tucker and Kenneth Tucker; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Jerry Tucker and her mother and father. Her gentle quiet spirit and patient, selfless nature endeared her to everyone who met her. She was much beloved by her family and friends. She served alongside her husband, Reverend Al Boykin, as a dedicated pastorÕs wife in five churches in Oklahoma during the past 46 years. Services will be conducted by the Ford Funeral Service at St. Matthew United Methodist Church located, 300 N. Air Depot Blvd., Midwest City, on Tuesday, December 16 at 10 a.m.
