Earl Myrick
The Soper Democrat October 24, 1918 - transcribed by Ron Henson

    Earl Myrick died last Thursday afternoon at the home of his father E.T. Myrick, north of Forney, after a short illness of pneumonia. He was 24 years old and leaves a father and mother and six sisters. He was buried in the Soper Cemetery at 3 o’clock Friday afternoon.

    Mrs. Earl Myrick died at her home north of Forney Monday night, of pneumonia, following an attatk [sic] of influenza. Her husband died of the same disease about two weeks ago. Burial was had in the Soper cemetery Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Myrick was about 19 years old and leaves one child, besides her parents, brothers and sisters, to mourn her death. She was well known in her community and had many friends who will join in extending sympathy to the family.


J.H. Harrison

    J.H. Harrison a well known farmer who lived 7 miles southwest of Soper, died at his home last Sunday of pneumonia. Burial was had Monday afternoon at the Soper cemetery, conducted by Rev. J.E. Wright. Mr. Harrison was 62 years old and had lived a long and useful life, and his many friends will regret to learn of his death


Robert Brown

    Robt. Brown, aged 26 years, died at Nashville, Tenn. Last week and the body was shipped to Soper and burial was had in the Soper cemetery yesterday afternoon. Death was due to influenza and complications. He was in the employ of the government when he was stricken ill. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and burial was had under the auspices of that order. He was the son of Mrs. Elmira Brown, and had made Soper his home for many years. He will be greatly missed by his many friends.


Infant McKee

    The four months old girl of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. McKee, died Wednesday morning at their home near Nelson. Burial was had yesterday afternoon at the family graveyard.


Thomas Edgar Burgett
The Soper Democrat October 24, 1918 - transcribed by Ron Henson

    Thomas Edgar, three months old son of Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Burgett, died last Saturday night at 11 p.m. of influenza and complications. He was buried at the Soper cemetery Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.


Jack Burgett
The Soper Democrat October 31, 1918 - transcribed by Ron Henson

    Jack, the 2 years and 7 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Burgett, died in this city Friday night. He was only sick four days with pneumonia. The remains were laid to rest Sunday morning at the Soper cemetery. Rev. J.E. Wright conducted the service.
    Little Jack was an exceedingly bright little fellow and was the pride of the household. The Democrat joins the friends of the family in extending sympathy.


Mrs. Lynch

    Mrs. Lynch, who lived in the north part of town, died of influenza this morning at 8 o’clock. Burial was had in the Soper cemetery this afternoon.


Mrs. Oliver Roebuck
The Soper Democrat October 24, 1918 - transcribed by Ron Henson

    Mrs. Willie Roebuck, wife of Oliver Roebuck died at the family home five miles northwest of Soper, Tuesday night at 11 o’clock. Death was due to pneumonia, superinduced by influenza. Interment was had in the Soper cemetery at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. J.E. Wright. Mrs. Roebuck was about 25 years old and besides a husband leaves four children to mourn her death. She was a true wife and mother and her untimely death is regretted by all.


Mrs. Norma Harmon
The Soper Democrat October 24, 1918 - transcribed by Ron Henson

    Mrs. Norma Harmon wife of Roy Harmon, died at the family home Sunday night after a few days illness with pneumonia. Interment was had in the Soper cemetery Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock, funeral services conducted by Rev. J.E. Wright, pastor of the Methodist church. She was 22 years old, a good woman and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.


Joe Warren
The Soper Democrat October 24, 1918 - transcribed by Ron Henson

    Sunday evening at his home southeast of Soper, Joe Warren succumbed to pneumonia, superinduced by influenza. He had only been sick a week. Burial was had in the Soper Cemetery Monday afternoon at 6 o’clock, funeral services being conducted at the grave by Rev. J.E. Wright, pastor of the Methodist Church.
    Mr. Warren was about 40 years old and was born at Paris, Texas and has lived near Soper for five years. He was a good man and numbered his friends by all who knew him. He was a member of the M.W.A., in which order he carried insurance. Besides a wife he leaves five children, viz. Calvin, Joe Lee, Everett, Homer and Lorene.
    The entire community deeply sympathizes with the family in their great loss.


Mrs. Theo Pirtle
Death of Mrs. C.D. Pirtle
The Soper Democrat October 17, 1918 - transcribed by Ron Henson

    Mrs. C.D. Pirtle died last Thursday night at her home in Hugo, after a few days illness of influenza. The remains were brought to Soper Friday afternoon where burial was had in the city cemetery, conducted by Rev. J.E. Wright, pastor of the Methodist church.
    Mrs. Theo Pirtle was 23 years of age, was practically reared in Soper, and was the eldest daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W.H. Allder, now living at Blue. Her many friends are deeply grieved to learn of her untimely death.
