Nannie E. Taylor

The Hugo Daily News March 30, 1983 – transcribed by Ron Henson

    Mrs. Nannie E. Taylor, 94, a resident of Hugo Manor Nursing Home passed away today at Choctaw Memorial Hospital.
    Mrs. Taylor was born May 26, 1888 in Wayside, Kansas. She was a member of the Catholic Church.
    Surviving relatives include a son, Loyd E. Dickey of Edmonton, Texas; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren
    Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 5th at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. James Wilmes will officiate.
    Interment will be in the Grant Cemetery under the direction of Lampton-Mills Funeral Home.


May Burchfield

The Hugo Daily News March 30, 1983 – transcribed by Ron Henson

    Mrs. May Burchfield, 71, of Sawyer, died today in Choctaw Memorial Hospital.
    Mrs. Burchfield was born January 7, 1912 in Choctaw County and had been a life long resident here. She was a member of the Sawyer Baptist Church.
    Surviving relatives include the husband, Fletcher, of the home; three brothers, Earl Potts, T.J. Wilson and Joel Potts, all of Norman; four sisters, Estelle Smith of Ft. Towson, Oma Nelle Baker of Norman, Amanda Randolph of Bloomington, California and Nellie Hulsey of Grant; and a number of nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held in the Coffey Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 1st. Rev. Mutt Wallace will officiate.
    Interment will be in the Ft. Towson Cemetery.


Karl "Sid" Klemme

    Karl "Sid" Klemme, 64, of the Goodland Route, Hugo, died today in the Veteran’s Hospital, Bonham, Texas.
    Mr. Klemme, a retired cabinet maker, was born December 19, 1918 in Sprakers, New York. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
    Surviving relatives include the wife, Dena Marie; a daughter, Beverly Oare of Sprakers, New York; a son, Karl K. Klemme, Jr. of Sprakers, New York; a sister, Vera Shelp of North Carolina; and four grandchildren.
    Funeral services are pending through Lampton-Mills Funeral Home.


Mable Baze

The Hugo Daily News July 19, 1973 – transcribed by Ron Henson

    Funeral services for Mrs. Mable Baze, 81, a long time resident of Choctaw County, were held Thursday afternoon in Southside Baptist Church, the Rev. Glenn Bates, Baptist minister, officiating. Coffey Funeral Home made burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
    Mrs. Bates [sic] died Tuesday in Garland, Tex., where a daughter, Mrs. Dovie Barker, makes her home. Also surviving is a son, James Baze, Rt. 6, Paris, Tex., and another daughter, Mrs. Grace Bumgardner, of Mesquite, Tex. Twenty grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren are other survivors.
    Mrs. Baze, a Baptist and Choctaw County resident for 53 years, was born Mable Gateley on June 3, 1892, in Yell County, Ark. She was a daughter of Felix Gateley and Mary Elizabeth (Morris) Gateley.


Martha Maxwell

    Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Maxwell, mother of Mrs. W.D. Davis, of Hugo, and M.A. Maxwell, of Paris, Tex., were set for 4 p.m. Wednesday in Coalgate, where burial also was made.
    In addition to the daughter in Hugo and son in Paris, Mrs. Maxwell is survived by another son, R.C. Maxwell, of San Pablo, Calif.


R.Q. Moore

The Hugo Daily News July 18, 1973 – transcribed by Ron Henson

    Funeral services for R.Q. (Shorty) Moore, resident of Hugo for a number of years, are set for 10 a.m. Thursday in Lampton-Mills Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Wayne Robinson, pastor of First Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be made in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.


John R. Jones

The Hugo Daily News July 16, 1973 – transcribed by Ron Henson

    Funeral services for John R. Jones, 78, of Soper, were held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Baptist Church there, the Rev. Bill Boyd, pastor, and the Rev. A.A. Williams officiating. Coffey Funeral Home made burial in Soper Cemetery.


I.W. Berrey

The Hugo Daily News July 16, 1973 – transcribed by Ron Henson

    Funeral services for Dr. I.W. Berrey, osteopathic physician practicing at Boswell the past 12 years, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Boswell Baptist Church with the Rev. Olen Price, pastor, officiating.
    Coffey Funeral Home made burial in Restland Cemetery at Boswell.
    Dr. Berrey died at his home Tuesday evening. He had been in failing health more than a year.


William B. Roberson

The Hugo Daily News July 16, 1973 – transcribed by Ron Henson

    Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the First Methodist Church in Boswell for William B. Roberson, 80. He died early Saturday in a Durant hospital.
    The Rev. John Legate officiated and Coffey Funeral Home made burial in Restland Cemetery.
    Born Dec. 28, 1892, in Mineral Springs, Ark., William B. Roberson was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Roberson. He was a World War I veteran, a Methodist and a resident of the Boswell area 29 years.
    Surviving are his wife, Mattie Ellen; a daughter, Mrs. Elma Doake; and two sons, W.C. Flowerree, of Magnolia, Ark., and V.E. Flowerree of Andrews, Tex. Also surviving are six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren with a sister, mrs. Annie Thompson, Boswell.


Curtis B. Wilson

The Hugo Daily News July 16, 1973 – transcribed by Ron Henson

    Curtis B. Wilson, 74 year old lifetime resident of Choctaw County, died Friday in the Veterans Administration Hospital at Bonham, Tex. He was a World War I United States navy veteran.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Bill Golden, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, officiating in Lampton-Mills Funeral Home chapel. Burial was made in Memory Lane in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
    Curtis Wilson was born April 24, 1899, in Indian Territory’s Choctaw Nation. He was a son of John Wilson and Florence (Turnbull) Wilson, both descendants of families influential in the early day development of the Choctaw Nation. He was a Baptist.
    Survivors are one brother, W.E. Wilson, of Ft. Towson; and three sisters, Miss Vivian Wilson, of Hugo; Mrs. Bennie Bates, of Valliant; and Mrs. Hattie Montgomery, of Muskogee.


Bryan L. Haneline

The Hugo Daily News July 16, 1973 – transcribed by Ron Henson

    Bryan L. Haneline, an uncle of Mrs. Cecil Elizondo, died Friday in lake Livingston, Texas, where he and his wife have resided since he retired.
    He was a resident of Hugo for a number of years, during which time he was associated with the late Jim Lindley in the produce business.
    He is survived by Mrs. Haneline and seven children. Burial was in Houston.
