Velma Elmore

Graveside services for Velma Elmore, of Boswell, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2006 at Restland Cemetery in Boswell with Rev. Mutt Wallace officiating.

Velma Elmore passed away on February 26, 2006 in Hugo at the age of 91. She was born on June 24, 1914 in Boswell to Jim and Martha (Anderson) Gilbreath. She married John Elmore in Boswell on July 26, 1931. She was a homemaker. Velma was well-known for her cooking. In her earlier years she cooked in restaurants and was famous for her tamales. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband John Elmore.

Velma is survived by three sons, Larry Elmore of Goodyear, Ariz., H.D. “‘Bud”‘ Elmore and David “‘Tex”‘ Elmore, both of Boswell; four daughters, Patsy Hughes and Martha “‘Marty”‘ Curtis, both of Boswell, Sue Marler of Waddell, Ariz., and Bobbye Bilbrey of Lubbock, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous friends.
