Hal Gooding

Hal LeFlore Gooding, a resident of Grant, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2006 in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 74. He was born on September 21, 1931 in Grant to Jesse Butch and Harriett Marie (Wilkins) Gooding. He married Sarah Flanagan on February 19, 1949 in Arkansas. Hal had lived in this area all of his life and was of the Methodist faith. He graduated from Grant High School and attended Murray State University for two years and graduated from Oklahoma A&M College in 1956 with a B.S. Degree in agronomy. Hal served his country in the United States Army, 45th Infantry from 1947 to 1953. He was a rancher and a businessman. Hal was a member of the Masonic Lodge of the 32nd degree. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and a great-grandchild, Conley Bills.
Hal is survived by his wife, Sarah D. Gooding of the home; two sons, Jesse Hal “Butch” Gooding of Grant and O. Clifton Gooding of Oklahoma City; four brothers, Dean Gooding of Grant, Fred Gooding of Sumner, Texas, Walter L. Gooding of Hugo, and Walt Leonard of Roulette; four grandchildren, Buckley Hal Gooding of Pattonville, Texas, Misty Lynn Bills and Keri Delene Gooding, both of Paris, Texas, and Rachael Delene Gooding of Oklahoma City; six great-grandchildren, Taylor Bills and Riley Bills, both of Paris, Texas, Abigail Gooding and Madelyn Gooding, Audrey Gooding and Weston Gooding, all of Pattonville, Texas.
Funeral services for Hal Gooding were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2006 at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo with Reverend John Flanagan officiating. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The family received friends Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel.
