Celeste Anderson

Graveside services for Celeste Anderson were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee. Ms. Anderson died May 23, 1992 in a Paris, Tx . hospital. She was 80.

A retired school teacher, and a member of the Presbyterian Church, Ms. Anderson was born in Antlers, Ok. on Feb. 14, 1912, to R. I. and Maude (Wood) Pierce. She married Bob Anderson and he preceded her in death, as did her son, John Daniel Devine and daughter, Mary Elizabeth Devine. She had been a resident of Hugo since 1968, moving her from Muskogee, Ok. She had taught at Bacone Jr. College in Muskogee prior to her retirement. She also taught school in Hugo and in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and Drake University.

Surviving relatives include one brother; George Pierce, Hugo, one sister, Mary Pierce, Hugo, and one grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Rev. Clayton Forthman officiated at the services which were directed by Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo.
