Marion Sylvester Hamill

Funeral services for Marion Sylvester Hamill of Grant were
held at 2:00 p.m. June 9, 2006 at Miller & Miller Funeral
Home Chapel in Hugo with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating.
Interment was in Grant Cemetery.
Mr. Hamill died June 7, 2006 in Hugo. He was 78. He was a
carpenter and mechanic. He retired from the Grant School
District where he worked as a mechanic and bus driver for 14
years. He was a member of the Powderly Church of God.
Marion was born September 14, 1927 in Ringold, Okla., the
son of William Greer Hamill and Selina Self and has lived in
the Grant community most of his life. He married Ethel
Marietta Thompson December 18, 1948 in Paris, Texas. She
preceded him in death on March 11, 2002. Marion was the
happiest when he was outside whether working in the
garden, mowing the yard or just sitting outside. He loved his
family and enjoyed being with his grandchildren. He was also
preceded in death by his parents; a son Clifford Alan Hamill
and one brother Floyd Hamill on November 1, 2004.
SURVIVING RELATIVES: three sons, Robert W. (Bobby)
Hamill and his wife Beverly of Garland, Texas, Floyd L.
(Sonny) Hamill and his wife Debbie of Hugo, and Marion S.
(Jr.) Hamill and his wife Kelly of Paris, Texas; two daughters,
Carolyn L. Sims and her husband Wayne of Mustang, Okla.
and Anita A. Parker Cox of Grant; one brother James B.
Hamill of Hugo; one sister Cora Brownfield of Greenville,
Texas; grandchildren: James Hamill, Alan Hamill, Amy Law,
Travis Thompson, Shawnita Sterett, Floyd L. (Hashi) Hamill,
Jr., Rebekah Simpson, Wes Sims, Eric Sims, Derrick
Parker, Olen Cox, Marietta Hamill, Julianna Hamill, Steven
Lee and 11 great grandchildren Patricia, Payton, Braydon,
Cody, Dalton, Ryan, Zhane, Levi, Peyton, Charlotte, and
Vincent along with a host of other family and friends.
