Marvin Carroll Farris
contributed by The Hugo Daily News
Marvin Carroll Farris, 81, of Rattan, passed away June 12, 2006 in Oklahoma City. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Marvin was born April 5, 1925 at Bald Hill, Oklahoma. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rattan. Marvin served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from the United States Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife Jean, who was blessed with 61 years of marriage; one son Philip Farris and wife Carol of Midwest City; three daughters, Carroll Jameson of Bicknell, Utah, Georgeanna Battles and husband John of Rattan, Guila Stocker and husband John of Edmond; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents Maurice Sebron Ferris and Guila Vivian (Hulsey) Farris; two sisters Vivian and Maurine; and four brothers Maurice, Jr., Robert, Ralph and Jack.
Marvin was loved by everyone who was lucky enough to be touched by his life. And he will always be remembered for his insatiable appetite for good food. He loved his life as the Lord loves the church and taught his children to love the Lord. He will be missed by his family, but they will have peace knowing he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
There will be a memorial service held on July 4 at the First Baptist Church of Rattan at 10:30 a.m., with Marvin's favorite food being served after the service.
Paid announcement.
