Boyd Abbott The Hugo Daily News – January 12, 1970 Transcribed by Ron Henson Mrs. Pullen’s Father Dies At Durant Boyd Abbott, father of Mrs. Jake Pullen of Hugo, died Saturday in a Durant hospital. He was 81. Services were today at 2:30 p.m. in the First Christian Church with Rev. Wayne Estus and Rev. Ross Kirven officiating. Burial was in Highland cemetery, with Holmes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Abbott was a retired oil dealer and rancher who started his career in Durant by selling kerosene from a horse and buggy. He was born in Kentucky and moved to Durant in 1911. In 1916 he and his father founded the Crescent Oil Company which he operated until he retired in 1961. He was a stockholder and director of the First National Bank. He was a member of the First Christian Church, a Mason, and was to have received his 50 year membership laque at tomorrow night’s Lions Club golden anniversary banquet. Mr. Abbott was married at Paris, Tenn., in 1908 to the former Daisy Gray, who survives.
