Garvin County Volunteers
Look-ups are done on a time available basis, so please be patient. Please specify which resource you would like searched, and include no more than two surnames. Be SPECIFIC about what information you hope to find. Don't ask for "anything you can find" on a surname! Remember they volunteer to do look-ups not family research. If you want a copy of a death, birth, or marriage Certificate please write to the County Courthouse and/or See Oklahoma Vital Records .

This award was issued to Betty Barnett
on 4-1-2003 for outstanding service to the Garvin County Website
in her efforts to catalog, map and canvass our area cemeteries. She is
also trying to get a Garvin County Cemetery
Association started to preserve our forgotten historical pioneer cemeteries.
Betty, thank you so much for all your efforts. You are APPRECIATED!
Melanie Bell: I have a book called "Men and Women from Garvin County in the Armed Forces During World War II". I am willing to lookup information for queries about people in the book. It has each person listed with a photograph and a short paragraph telling about the person.
Lisa Duncan:. I would like to be a volunteer for look-ups in Garvin County. I work during the week, but get off at 3:00 in the afternoon, so I can do some things at the courthouse before it closes. I also am willing to go to the cemeteries or the library when needed. Also have a digital camera, in case it is needed to take pictures of tombstones, old schools, or whatever is needed.
Vera Anderson: Lindsay. Will do lookups for Greenhill, Purdy and the Sandy Bear Cemeteries
Lucy Hockersmith
Brenda Choate: I recently moved to the Central Valley Region of California so I can no longer take photos or do lookups for you. I can still post items to the website, until we find a new co-ordinator for the site.
Beth Little: Now living in Lexington but will help if she can. Jim's family lived in Pauls Valley for years.
Bud Smith: Stratford Area - Has a copy of book on McGee, Corley, Lewis Cemeteries, and a few others in the Stratford area
Harriette Jensen: Look-ups From old copies of OGS Quarterlies in which the 1907 marriages for Garvin County and Randolph Cemetery near Mayfield were transcribed.
Jack Story: Has a copy of Pauls Valley 1941 City Directory and will look up info in it. His father was John "Doc" Story who had the Pontiac Agency and Sinclair Station in Pauls Valley. He lived at 803 North Pine. John was born in Story, I.T. in 1902. John's father was William R. "Bill" Story, local Chickasaw who built the church & school house in Story, I.T. Is having trouble tracing Bill's father Elisha Story.
Candace Gregory: Will do census lookups for the entire state of Oklahoma. Please contact her for info she will need to do your lookup.
Janice Cates: Has been appointed President of the Oak Ridge Cemetery Association, Garvin County, Davis, OK. She will do lookups for the Oak Ridge Cemetery and for the Antioch Cemetery, located south of Maysville, OK. (And could use help and donations for the care of Oakridge Cemetery!)
If you want to pay someone to do more detailed research for you
you can contact Fred Dittmar, he charges by the hour, plus expenses
