SMITH -- John William,
"Bill", passed away from this life on Tuesday, March 13,
2007 after a six-year battle with cancer. He was born December 26, 1932,
the fourth child to Velta (Andrews) and John M. Smith, on his grandad's
Albert "Pete" Smith's home place at Red Rock, OK. John
grew up on his parents' dairy/wheat farm west of Ponca City. Shortly
after graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Army Aircraft
Division, 99th Battalion at Gross Point, MI, during the Korean Conflict.
He married Jayne Files-Huskey on February 14, 1967 in Hominy, OK. John
was employed at American Airlines for 34 years, retiring as CC Chief in
January, 1991 and co-owner of B.S.B. Company. He is survived by: his
wife, Jayne; daughter, Teresa Smith-McMahon; son and daughter-in-law,
Rick and Mary Huskey; 2 granddaughters, Alison and Chandler Huskey, all
of Tulsa, OK; 2 sisters, Shirley Osborne-Barber of Hillsboro, OR and
Lois Skaggs of Ponca City, OK. He is preceded in death by: his parents;
and a brother, V.A. "Sonny" Smith. Memorial service will be 1
p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 663-2233,

Funeral Set for Tuesday for Ted Swart
Theodore F. "Ted" Swart, 83, 627 Kaw street, died at 2:40 p.m.
Saturday at Perry Memorial hospital.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral chapel with Rev. David
Dickinson, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating. Burial will be at
Grace Hill cemetery.
Swart, the son of Reinhard and Anna Swart, was born southeast of Perry, Dec 23,
1904. He was married to the former Mary Ruth Gross, who survives.
He was a member of the First Christian church and the Masonic lodge and was a
32nd degree Mason. Swart was a 60-year member of the Perry Golf and Country
club. He operated Swart Oil company for 48 years and retired in 1974.
In addition to Mrs. Swart, of the home, survivors include two sons, Robert
Swart, Kingfisher; and Jerry Swart, Longmont, Colo.; seven grandchildren and one
great-grandchild. Swart was preceded in death by one daughter, six brothers, and
three sisters.

Rites Sunday For O.W. Swart, Perry Native
Funeral will be at the Poteet chapel in Pawnee Sunday at 2:30 p.m. for Oscar W.
Swart, 81, formerly of Perry and brother of a local man, who died at5:30 p.m.
Friday. Burial will be in the Pawnee cemetery.
Swart was a brother of Ted Swart, Seventh and Kaw streets. He was reared on a
farm southeast of here. He was in the soft drink bottling business in Perry and
Pawnee and had been retired several years. He had lived in Pawnee since 1922.
In addition to his brother here, he is survived by two sisters. Mrs. Rosa
Pendleton of Oklahoma City and Mrs. H. R. Walker, Texas City, Texas. One son,
Riney, of Pawnee; one grandson and one great-grandson also survive.

William McCALL died March 11, 1909, at the home of Emmet BEACH, nine
miles south of Perry. Mr. McCALL was born in Ross County, Ohio, Dec. 25, 1818.
He moved with his parents to Indiana, thence to Clay County, Mo., in 1836. After
his majority he lived in Platt county, Mo. fifty years, coming to Perry June 10,
1899. Mr. McCALL lived to the ripe age of 91 years, 2 months and 14 days. He
leaves three sons and two daughters, Mrs. GINTER and Mrs. BEACH, who reside near
Perry.
Mr. McCALL was baptized by Rev. G.B. COLLINS August 29, 1907, and united
with the Lawnview Congregational church the following Sunday. The interment took
place March 14, 1909, in Fairview cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. Mrs.
E.R. COLLINS.

MOTHER AND SON DIE
Emmett BEACH, an old resident of the county, died at his farm home six
miles south of the city Friday morning. Funeral services were conducted Sunday
afternoon by Rev. David THOMAS from the family home and interment was made in
Fairview cemetery, six miles south of Perry.
Sunday night, his aged mother, Mrs. Josephine BEACH, also passed away,
after a brief illness of pneumonia. Funeral services were conducted from
Christoph & Newton funeral chapel in Perry Tuesday afternoon and interment
made in Fairview cemetery where her body was laid to rest beside that of her
son.
The BEACHES were old residents of the county, residing on their farm
south of town for many years. Mr. BEACH was never married, living with and
caring for his mother who was alone and advanced in years.

AGED PERRY WOMAN DEAD
Mrs. Missouri A. GENTER, 85-year-old, long-time resident of Perry, died
at 6:30 p.m. Friday at her home. Twelfth and Locust streets, following a heart
attack.
The body will be at the Davis funeral home until funeral services. No
definite arrangements have been made, pending arrival of relatives from Kansas
City.
Only immediate survivor is a brother, Dr. McCALL of Perry. A number of
nieces and nephews also survive.

GENTER RITES SLATED TODAY
Funeral services for Mrs. Missouri Adline McCALL GENTER, resident of
Perry since 1906, who died at her home Twelfth and Locust streets Friday from a
short illness, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Methodist church.
Rev. Percy BECK, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview
cemetery, south of Perry,
Mrs. GENTER who was born in Platte county, Mo., February 07, 1856, and
was married in Waldon, Mo., February 28, 1878, to Christopher Fredrick GENTER,
who preceded her in death in 1922.
Mrs. GENTER, with her husband, made the run at the opening of the
Pottawatomie and Sac and Fox territory, settling on a farm, two miles northwest
of McLoud, Oklahoma.
They lived in McLoud, where Mrs. GENTER was an active church worker and
community builder, until 1906, when they moved to Perry.
She was an active member of the local Methodist church.
Survivors include one brother, Morton "Dock" McCALL of Perry;
two nieces, Mrs. Lillian B. EDWARDS of Bristow and Mrs. Estella HANSING of Twin
Falls, Idaho, both of whom were reared by Mrs. GENTER, and a number of other
nieces and nephews.
The Davis funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
