Some Oklahoma folks went north to Chatauqua County, Kansas, to get married. Sedan, the county seat of Chautauqua County is only seven miles north of the border and is probably closer to many in Osage county than Pawhuska, the Osage county seat. In early days going to Sedan to get married might have been an easier trip. The genealogical society in Sedan has the original applications and certificates of marriage and will send copies to researchers for a small fee. Don Tharp is working on putting the marriage indices online. Some Indian Territory residents went to Montgomery County, Kansas to get their marriage licenses. A list of some of these couples can be found at Montgomery County Marriages in the Osage County GenWeb Archives. There are several hundred marriages in Montgomery Co. Kansas that just list the people as from "Indian Territory" so probably many more were Osage Co. residents.
