JOHNNIE MARIE BAKER
Area resident, Johnnie Marie Baker, was born July 24, 1911 in
Drasco,
Arkansas and passed away on September 14, 2000 in Atoka, Oklahoma
at the age
of 89 years.
Johnnie came to the Miller/Jumbo area as a young woman, coming
from
Arkansas. She was a strong, honest and proud woman that grew up in
the Great
Depression. She loved and adored her family. She liked to dress
pretty and
always insisted on wearing a hat. She enjoyed for her pastime
canning,
sewing and being a homemaker. Her church affiliation was of the
Baptist
faith.
Mrs. Baker is survived by 6 children: Carl Dean Pool of
Whitewater,
Colorado; Imogene Birchfield of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Audra
Baker of
Antlers, Oklahoma; Donnie Baker of the home in Atoka; and Windil
Hilliard of
Atoka; 1 sister: Dalphine Hardin of Atoka; 10 grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous
nieces, nephew
and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Issac and Maltilda
Cannon; her
husband: Frank Lee Baker, and 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 16, 2000 at 10:00
a.m. in the
Mills and Coffey Chapel with Reverend Billy Joe Howard
officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were: Phillip Cannon, Voyd Cannon, Thomas
Cannon,
Floyd Hardin, T. J. Griffin and Virgil Griffin.
Honorary pallbearers included: Gary Dunham, Roy Dunham, David
Dunham and
Willie Cottrell, Jr.
Burial was held at the Darwin Cemetery under the direction of
Mills & Coffey
Funeral Home of Antlers.
