MARY ETTA CANNON
Mary Etta Cannon was born October 7, 1914 in Pine Springs,
Oklahoma and
passed away on March 1, 2001 at Paris, Texas at the age of 86
years.
Mrs. Cannon was a loving homemaker and mother and has lived in
Atoka County
all her life. She was a member of the Darwin Baptist Church and
enjoyed
quilting and cooking.
She is survived by 1 son: Eugene Cannon and wife Nancy of Atoka,
Okla.; 1
granddaughter: Beverly Hamilton and husband Raymond of Moyers,
Okla.; 3
sister-in-laws: Ruth Maxey of Antlers, Okla.; Daphonia Hardin of
Atoka,
Okla.; and Pete Maxey of Antlers, Okla.; as well as numerous
nieces,
nephews, relatives, and friends.
Mrs. Cannon was preceded in death by her parents: Charlie and
Bertie Maxey;
husband: Lloyd Cannon; brothers: Jack Dempsey, Robert and Bill
Maxey and
sisters: Lena Smithson and Nettie Moore.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 2, 2001 at 3:30 p.m. at
the Darwin
Baptist Church with Reverend Norman Chaffin officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were: Phillip Cannon, Thomas Cannon, T. J.
Griffin,
Virgil Griffin, Roger Maxey, Perry Eskue, and Yancey Penner.
Honorary pallbearers included: Boyce Couch, Voyd Cannon, Dugan
Penner, and
Floyd Hardin.
She laid to her final resting place at Darwin Cemetery under the
direction
of Mills & Coffey Funeral Home of Antlers, Oklahoma.
