John Daniel Barrett
great, great grandfather of  Troy Splawn
taken in Yanush, I.T., around 1890.
He was an early settler of Push Co. area,

Taken around 1940.

He J D Barrett was a crack shot and could shoot like a marksman.

His grandchildren said he would practice quick shooting everyday with
his ivory handled pistol. He would line up bottles on a log and spin around and shoot them all real quick.

(He would say, "Humph, I think that would kill a man")

Just before his death he heard his last sworn enemy had died in Atoka. They said Grandpa Barrett hung up his pistol and quit practicing.
