DEAD INDIAN District #48

(NE1/4SE1/4 9-14-23 Moved SW1/4 10-14-23)


In 1901 it was a one room building with two seated desks and located on Dead Indian Creek from where their drinking water came. On May 24, 1919, Dead Indian, Red Top and Custer or Snakey Bend created Strong City.


(From the Cheyenne Sunbeam, January 19, 1900) Teacher, John OSBORN; Pupils were May WEDDLE, Orville, Grover and Lloyd MONROE, Sam SCOTT, Richard SING, Tom KENDALL, Oscar SCOTT, Sally SING, Maggie KENDALL, Lemma SCOTT, and Pearl SCOTT.
