James Blake "Jim" 84, of Bakersfield, CA died Friday at his home.
He was the third child of Betty and Will Rogers. He was the last surviving
child of the Rogers'. He will be interred in the family tomb on the Will
Rogers museum grounds in Claremore, OK. He is survived by his second wife,
Judith BRAUN, and two sons and a daughter.

CLAREMORE (AP) -- Jim Rogers, the last surviving son of cowboy humorist Will
Rogers, died Friday after a bout with cancer, officials with the Will Rogers
Memorial said.
Jim Rogers, 84, served as the family's representative on the official Will
Rogers Memorial Commission of Oklahoma. He died at his home in Bakersfield,
Calif.
"Jim Rogers was inspirational, kind, humorous and articulate just like his
father," said Michelle Lafebvre-Carter, director of the Will Rogers Memorial
Commission of Oklahoma.
"Jim Rogers referred to Will Rogers affectionately as `Dad' in family matters
and `WR' in reference to the icon."
Born July 25, 1915, in New York City, James Blake Rogers appeared in three
of Will Rogers' feature films. He was a cinema cowboy in three Hopalong Cassidy
westerns, made Army training films with Rod Cameron, and co-starred with
Noah Beery Jr. in "Dudes are Pretty People," "Calaboose," and "Prairie Chicken,"
all produced by Hal Roach Jr.
In the 1940s, Jim Rogers was editor- publisher of The Beverly Hills Citizen.
He joined the Marine Corps in the latter period of World War II as a writer-
correspondent.
He was married for nearly 50 years to Astrea Kemmler, who died in 1987. He
married Judith Braun in 1995. The couple ran a riding stable in
Bakersfield.
In addition to Judith Braun, Rogers is survived by sons James Rogers of
Nashville, Tenn., and Charles Edward Rogers of Cave Creek, Ariz., and daughter,
Astrea Elizabeth Rogers, of Chowchilla, Calif.
Rogers was the third child of Will and Betty Rogers. His father died in a
plane crash near Point Barrow, Alaska, in 1935, and his mother died nine
years later.
Jim Rogers' brother, Will Rogers Jr. died in 1993; his sister, Mary, died
in 1989 and his brother, Fred, died in 1920.
Jim Rogers will be interred in the family tomb on the Will Rogers museum
grounds in Claremore.

Oologah, July 20--Funeral services for Mrs. Etta Hannah Patrick, 76, a
life-time resident of this community, will be held here at 9:30 a. m. Wednesday
in the Methodist church. Mrs. Patrick died Monday in a Claremore hospital
after a 2-year illness. Survivors include two sons, Paul J. Patrick and Howard
B. Patrick, both of East St. Louis, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. E. C. Share,
Oxford, La.; Mrs. Lela Harris, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. O. W. Hollingsworth,
Denver City, Tex., and Mrs. Pauline Crawford, Kansas City, Mo.; a brother,
D. Walker, Oologah, and a sister, Mrs. Dave Wallace, Hartshorne. Interment
will be in a Claremore cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the R. W.

Fall with Horse Fatal To Will Rogers' Friend; Accident Occured Tues.

Dal Walker, 72, of near Oologah, widely-known area pioneer cowboy and
rancher, died Wednesday morning in a Claremore hospital. Mr. Walker died
of injuries suffered Tuesday when his horse reared and fell backwards on
him at the H. T. Holland ranch near Oologah. He had sold his own ranch about
6 years ago and retired. Mr. Walker lived with his wife, Eva, who has been
the Oologah news reporter for The News for several years, near Oologah and
had been taking care of some cattle at the Holland ranch recently. He grew
up in this area and roped with the late famed humorist Will Rogers. Mr. Walker
was a boyhood friend of Rogers when their parents' ranches were in this area.
He was elected last Sunday to the executive board of the Indian Territory
Cowboys and Pioneers Association. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.
Saturday in the Oologah school auditorium. Interment will be in the Woodlawn
cemetery, Claremore. Arrangements are in charge of the Musgrove funeral home,
Claremore.

Dal Walker was born in Oowala, Indian Territory, September 15th 1883 and
departed this life June 8 1955 in Claremore, Okla. He was the son of Newton
and Mary Walker and with them came to Oologah when he was a small boy and
spent the remainder of his life in this community.
On January 10, 1906 he was united in marrige to Eva Tucker in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. John Arnold.
He was a farmerand rancher and maintained a large ranch and home near
Oologah until January 1950 when he sold his property and retired from
actual ranch work and moved to town where he lived until his death.
Dal Walker will never be just a name to the community he has left. He
was a source of help and inspiration to scores of young people and friend
and advisor to older ones. Hislive was a lesson of brotherly love to all
who knew him and his heart, his home and his hands were always open and ready
to help thos who needed im. His countless acts of kindness and generosity
to young peole who were endeavoring to obtain an education will stand forever
as a living monument to his memory. He himself was a pupil at the first school
established in Oologah. No bigger hearted men lived than the pioneer cowmen
and Dal Walker lived up to every tradition made by that early day group in
the Indian Territory. He lived a life of belief in God and faith in his fellow
man. He is survived by his wife, Eva, scores of relatives and hundreds of
friends. May the realization of a life well lived, a life of unselfish devotion
to both loved ones and comfort to those he has left. His memory will be forever
cherished as "One who lived in the house by the side of the road and was
a friend to man".
